Front-End Headlight Wiring - Pictures Please!!
« on: August 10, 2021, 11:39:30 PM »
Hi, I'm about to embark on putting in the front-end harness on my 1980 K20.  Would love to see pictures of your wiring!  I'd like to hide it away or at least make it neat.  It looks like routing through the fender would accomplish that, but not certain.

Thanks,
Mark

All my pictures would be of stock routing.  you can route them through the fender openings for a cleaner look though

Thanks. I got some of that corrugated loom, don't like it and some stuff that's more like a hose, which I don't like either. So I'll get some Weave looms and route through the fenders.

The solenoid wiring looks to be much lower risk from the headers of I bring it all the way around to the front with the battery wires.

It will be a while, I'll post pics when I get it all finalized.

Tomorrow I hope to finish the headlight and horn wiring. Not quite ready to provide pictures, but I've got engine and internal wiring nice and snug through the fenders. Note, if you do that, you should install the grommets first! . Worst case, just cut the grommet.

Anyways, I've seen a few pictures only of the front end headlight wiring. Did you take yours in front of our behind the core support? It looks like there's room between the radiator, but easier access from front.

Picture below.

Thanks!

I found some old pictures that had the wiring harness running over the inner fenders and under the engine in the front crossmember. Another square body has them in the same place. So I choose similar routing.

Temporary attach shown below. The horn wire was too short, I assume they expected me to run direct, but I like hiding the wires.

While I was underneath, discovered is forgotten to install the crossmember bolts. This has been a worthwhile exercise!
