NEW TO RESTORATION
« on: December 29, 2019, 10:14:25 AM »
Hey all. I was gifted a 1976 chevy k10 with a small block 400. The truck ran but not great so i started to play around with it and have now decided i want to take it apart and start fresh. I am looking for some direction as far as cams, heads, pistons and such to look at.  i have had a lot of people tell me to stroke it out but im not sure i want to go that far. my end goal for the truck will be to have a 4 in lift on it and to have it be a daily driver when the weather is nice. I am not going to put fuel injection on it. thanks for any advice.

Don't take advice from anyone who tells you to stroke a 400 SBC for a dd. 400's daily driven on pump gas should watch the compression ratio as they are prone to detonation. 4" lift, 35"s? What trans will you be running?

What gear ratio do you have?
