With the engine cold after sitting overnight, remove the air cleaner. With the keys in your pocket and the engine OFF, prop and hold the choke plate open so that it is completely vertical. Using a bright flashlight, peer down the throat of the carburetor and operate the throttle by hand to quickly open it all the way two times. Did you see two well-defined streams of fuel squirting into the center of the throttle bores both times that you opened the throttle?
Actually, loosen the dist clamp where you can turn the dist with effort. If you have a helper, have them crank the engine as you advance and retard the dist, the nipple on the vacuum advance point the direction to advance the timing. Once you get it started, check the timing with a light and set.
