Flowtech afterburner headers/spark plug problems
« on: September 04, 2006, 01:09:00 AM »
i installed these headers the other day on my truck..i went to put the spark plugs in today and when i try and thread in the one farthest back on the drivers side i cant thread it in straight because it hits the header tube for that cylinder...i had an old accel plug (the short ones) layin around so i
tried that and i could thread it in fine but when i put the wire on the boot makes contact with the header tube....i dont think they make a shorter spark plug than the accel one i tried....anybody here have these headers? any suggestions are appriciated..

I had the same problem with my Hedman's.
you can buy at most auto-parts stores a thermal boot protector that fit's over the plugwire and boot mine touch the header and have for 2 years with no more than a discoloring of the thermal boot.

I concur.....use the thermal protective sleeves. I would also suggest a 135 degree boots as opposed to the 90 degree.

Hooker headers or Dynomax Std. series seemed to do the best for me.  Dynomax just needed a wrench, but it wasn't too bad.
