New member/New build
« on: November 11, 2015, 08:55:59 PM »
Hello! New to the forum and would like some advice if possible. I am starting a build with my 14 y/o son. I have uploaded a picture of our truck(blue) and a picture of the a truck(silver) that we like. I would like to get some opinions as to the size lift, tires, and wheels the truck(silver) has. Thanks for the help.

Our truck is a 1978 C10 Bonanza/Scottsdale(blue)

Thank you,
Jeff

Howdy from Kansas!

The silver truck looks like it has at least a 4" lift.  I can't say what tires or wheels.

The photo of the blue truck you have is small, but the truck appears to be in great shape. Hope you post some more photos of it...

Welcome from Northeast AZ! Those are both nice trucks! I would say the silver one has at least a 4" lift on 35" tires and what appears to probably be 16" wheels. But there's no real way to tell for sure. I agree with Jason that it appears your truck is in excellent shape. It should make a great father/son project. Look forward to seeing more pictures!

Thanks guys for the responses. Philobeddoe are the Bonanza trucks rare? My grandfather bought this truck new in 1978 and it only has 85000 miles on it. It is in good shape but does have some rust in the normal places.

Bonanza's are very rare and highly sought after, they are the deluxe prize and crown jewel of the 1973-1987 generation!!  Okay, okay...i'm exagerating a little. But the other members will get a chuckle out of this. I CAN honestly say, before i got my bonanza, i have never seen nor heard of them, and i have not seen another one yet.  But i have seen many cheyenne's, scottsdales, custom deluxes, camper specials, etc, etc. you've got a great family truck there, its worth a little restoration.  Now lookie here:

Welcome from NV.  Your truck looks really nice, and like a great starter.  According to Barrett-Jackson who sold that silver truck, it's a 6" lift, 35" tires on 15x10 rims

It may be 6" but if those are 35's they are sure tucked a little high for a 6" lift. Here's a side view of mine with a 4" and 35's and the tires don't seem to tuck so high into the fnder wells. Is it a diffrent in the body?

Welcome from the Mile High City. I wonder if I have a Bonanza or a Scottsdale or neither. Still trying to de-code this option sticker!

I think, not for sure, that that indicates it is a Scottsdale trim level with a Bonanza package added on.

Like having a Scottsdale with the Camper Special package added on or like the brand new silverados, you can get a Silverado but you have options of adding an "All-Star" package, "Midnight" package and 2 others I can't remember off the top of my head.

If your real real fortunate, then just maybe its a bonanza. But i doubt it, bonanzas are just too rare.
