Heavy duty front springs
« on: December 11, 2020, 08:00:44 PM »
So I'm about to order up front springs for my 80 C10 from Rockauto when I noticed they offer a regular and a heavy duty set. Anyone running the heavy ones and can comment to the difference in ride quality or performance?  I have a small block with a th400 and running about an extra 100 lbs under the hood.

The heavy duty springs are thicker and rated for an additional 6-700lbs. If you don't need heavy duty springs, there's no improvement in the ride quality. What's the extra 100lbs? PS Rock Auto sells a lot of chinese counterfeit garbage so be careful what you buy from them.

Thanks for the info, the R/A springs are Monroe brand so hoping they're decent.  The extra weight is frame bracing, crossmembers and a blower setup.  I found the front end a little soft in the corners before, so I was thinking of them more for the side handling than the weight but it still is a small factor.
