Suburban Factory Base Options?
« on: May 06, 2019, 04:36:32 PM »
Hey everyone I’m new here. I just bought a 79 suburban 4x4 manual it says Sierra on the dash (Which I think is the base option)

I don’t know much about the options suburbans came with from the factory (or much about these trucks at all but I’m digging into them now). I poked around a little but didn’t find a whole lot.

I was searching for factory options for the interior. Did my burb come with out a headliner? I didn’t see any screw holes in the sheet metal to hold the trim up. How bout the glove box(it has a speaker where the box should go also I don’t see any other speakers in the whole truck)? Is this factory options or did someone do some funky stuff?

Thanks for your time!

Sierra is the base.  You should have a glove box door but pretty much a basic truck.

While never owning a base model Suburban, I can tell you the base model pickup did not have a headliner.  If there are no screw holes seen I bet it didn't come with one.

Awesome find.  Basically anything that cost money was an option.  That one was built for work.

Check this out, looks like it was some sort of kit. That’s not a factory radio is it? Maybe it was a dealer add on? I don’t know

It says Kraco

i own a base line crew cab. no fabric headliner but you should have two layers of sheet metal for the roof. at least on the crew cab there is and thats where the dome light would be on the inner piece that it looks like youre missing

Also was a horn a option? Because I don’t see anything that looks like horn pieces.

I dont think a Chevy dealer installed that Kraco stereo.
That has Kmart written all over it. Brings me back in time. Kinda cool....
