The seam on your firewall appears to have rust. Since you pulled the engine, it might be a good time to wire wheel, grind, and sand the rust from the seam. Ensure there is no rust through and repair is needed and apply a rust seal of some sort to the seam area. Seems that is where much rust through occurs with our trucks.
