Ever notice on this site...There are those that ask questions and those that never need to.

what about those of us in between?

Good question, not sure. Where do you rate yourself? 1 - 10. I'm probably a 1.5. Lol
-
ide say I'm a solid 6.5.

6.5 is very good. I still hold to my belief that if any of us had a good shop, tools and time, we could be 10's. And i know, anybody can just replace parts. Its the correct diagnose and repair that counts.

What's a 1 and what's a 10?
I guess a 1 would be changing the oil, filters and plugs. A 10 would be having the ability to diagnose and make a repair to ANY problem and almost never having to ask for help.

I am probably a 8, weakest on automatic transmissions and electrical. Shear repetition having so many over the years help. Reading these forums educate greatly as well. There are several on here that go above and beyond the call of duty with help. I will be ever indebted to you! I average 3 hours a day here.

this feels like me also, however I'm much better with electrical than I used to be. Transmissions tho, not so much. I know enough to be dangerous.

I guess i'm pobably a 4, like many, i can replace a lot of parts- given the tools and time. But diagnosing carb, engine and tranny problems and tough electrical problems, well, you know...my truck ends up in VZ's shop. Lol..

I'm pretty wise on stuff but not too proud to ask for help on those occasions when I need it. Just take a look at my last post in my build thread. I believe if someone helps you the least you can do is to call others attention to said person for their assistance and express your gratitude.

Huh...I never fully read your last update Eng. I did skim it and laughed at the visitors you had! I went back and low and behold...a shout-out! :D
Anyways...glad to help!!! We never can know everything, except if you have young kids, then they think you do! I will have to look at those T370 marker lamps...we have several versions and I don't remember those.

Well stated engineer. We all know there are some 10's out there. And this site needs them. Good thing.
-
i think im mid range on that scale and it might be i underrate myself or the lack of confidence to do it right. ive pulled off some jobs and am very proud of myself and others like the injection pump on my cummins i "think" i put it back together right but its still not running so it off to a shop to do it right and it might not even bee the pump but idk.
and it blows me away when someone who i look at as a 9-10 ask a question. and to be fair it was something that he wasnt familiar or liked working on like electric, but his other skills are outstanding.
-
Irish, in just the 2 years i've been here you have helped out mega! Your more than mid, thats for sure.

i think my main problem is self confidence. ive always struggled with it in life, but DOC has kind of help me to open up

I didn't get the VIN, but the truck was owned by Ferrellgas Propane originally so I am sure it was spec'd new from Kenworth by Ferrellgas if that helps. The 2nd gauge panel pictured in my build thread is from that particular truck.

Yeah...im,by no means, mechanically inclined. I know some, but not alot. You know when you have that speedo needle that bounces off the "0" peg and jumps to "25" 2-3 times?....yep...that's me.lol. I don't ask many questions, even though I have some, its just I don't have the $ right now to put into my truck to warrant askin the types of questions I have. I do,however, like to read other's posts to gain info,ideas,thoughts,etc...it's interesting.

I know what you mean, only mine jumps from 50 to 65.

I don't know what I am but, I have turned wrenches my whole life and the only type of truck I have ever owned has been a square body. The knowledge level on this board is pretty good and a lot of you underestimate yourself from what I have read on here. I have never stopped learning and reading here helps that process.

Im like a 3 but i made friends with guys that are 10s
That sounds weird

The 10's probably wont respond here. If i were a 10 i probably wouldnt out of modesty.
Althouth that is not how i see this forum. If your a 10 you've earned it. So brag away. Lol
