No I don't work for them, I work for a technical school. I've personally bought equipment from them was all I was saying. I do not endorse them, just saying they have good deals and have been good.

Hello,
Dont know if you said this, but what type of headers did you use?  shorty, mid lenth ?  I am doing a similar build and getting ready to choose some headers.  I cannot go with long tube, for two reasone, one, clearance, and two, I think they look awfull going past the frame.  any help is appreciated.

Thank you

I used shorty headers made to fit 88-95 C/K 5.7L applications. You need to make a small clearance groove on the top drivers side frame rail which takes about 60 seconds to do otherwise they good.

It's been a while since I updated anything on this. -Fixed up the front end - ball joints, bearings, brakes etc - gotta do an alignment and put the other J-Hook on then it's strictly body, paint, glass and shocks and she'll be road worthy. If I didn't dig so deep into my 74 again I would have been done with this but I guess no need to rush or pressure myself or I'll end up doing what I did with the 83.

Hey any more updates? I am new here and was looking around for tips on doing dual intank pumps for my saddle tank setup in the 80. Since I need pumps for the LT1. Could you possibly give more tips on how these "drop in"? Loving the build! You are in Texas? I'm in DFW myself. Glad to see more texans! Thanks for any help you can give.

Wow,

It's certainly been a while since I updated this. Good news is I finally brought the truck to my house so I could get back to working on it. I got the front end all done and aligned it. Mechanically all it needs now is a set of shocks and the rest is completing the body work and paint. I have some time off coming up and if it ever stops raining I can get cranking on this again.

If you don't mind me asking Vile, what brand are those headers, they look great and very well constructed. Would you recommend them?

They're the 88-95 shorty's. They fit fine but you do need to clearance a very small spot on the upper frame rail where the O2 bung is.

Well I pulled it out from under the tarp after a very long time of sitting and nothing happening other than regression. Long story short, after I changed positions at work I had to sacrifice a lot of things including the time devoted to my projects. While I have no regrets I do miss all of the truck building I was doing. With new higher level position and my daughter with another one on the way it seems like I'll never get anything done. So with a lot of work on the house completed, I've gotten to a point where I can do a little work on this sucker again. Power washed it and decided I'm going to yank the engine out. I have another engine better suited for this project (pinky's engine) whereas the engine in there will be a better fit for pinky. So, I will be giving this a heart transplant and then back on the body/paint. Sick of looking at it and plus I really want to get on the 75 Blazer and I can't get to that til my 74 is done. lol

Congratulations on the news of your second child.  Family comes first.
Sounds like its a full time job that you have working on your projects.  I'm sure the Mutt will turn out great, just like the others.
How is the rest of the fleet? I've been following the progress on your 74. How's pinky and your blue long bed with the aluminum slots? (Scotty?).  I goota say, that blue one is my idea of the perfect & practical truck.
Looking forward to seeing work start on the Blazer too.  Like all of us, there's not enough time in the day.

Congrats on the new career, babies and all going on with ya. I do know how toys and projects can be put to the side but there is no better therapy that's for sure. Can't wait to see some progress on some of your projects.

Thanks guys. They're coming along, the 74 I am building a radiator support and some covers to help with the finish the engine bay's smooth look. I started it up the other day and had an audience filling their lungs with pollution lol I always have fun with that thing even when it's not all put together. I'm dropping a bunch of trees so I can put in a pool so my buddy is babysitting Scotty. He drove it home and now he wants one of these trucks again. He had to 77 K10's back in the day. I'll try to get some good pix of the progress as I go along and update the posts. If all goes well I'll be doing some engine removal this weekend. :)

Pulled the engine out of pinky, pulled the engine out of the mutt and dropping it back in there today. 1980 350 block with TBI setup. It's a better fit for the 4x4 whereas the engine I originally put in there will be much better for the stepside

You should bottle some of that energy and sell it!  You'd make a fortune!!  LOL

I'm glad that you've been able to muster some time for your truck projects, Vile.  Lately, mine just seem to stare back at me....

That motor is quite a looker.  It's funny, staring at an engine on a stand and watching as it morphs and comes alive is like watching a campfire.  It's captivating!  I can almost hear it running already....   ;)
