are you doing a lot of stop and go traffic?  if so, theres no mileage fix for that.  in downtown atlanta I get about 10MPG or less.  if you drive slow and easy down there, you cant get anywhere, when you take off slow, 4 cars get in front of you and you sit through the light again.  not me. ;D

if you are able to use it where you drive, cruise control is the best thing for mileage.  a human cant drive like cruise control does.  I use mine a lot.

There isnt much stop an go. And my truck isnt equipped with cruise. Ill have to re-check my MPG when I can drive again. Ive got new heads that flow better and im thinking that I had a cracked head since I built it and then it finally blew the gasket. It haf a lot more power with the new heads, so maybe itll get better mileage too. Ill be getting my license back the last week of Sept. So ill check it then.

these trucks get smiles per gallon, not miles per gallon.

I know i had one of these trucks as my first vehicle, and i was neverendingly BROKE keeping it running and fed with fuel.

though it worked out, since i brought the vehicle and gas, whoever rode with me pitched in to get me in the fun wherever they were.  if they didnt get me into the party, i charged em $5 per mile for the ride, and that was when gas cost $0.80 per gallon.

i made a lot of gas money going on short trips for people.  ;D

Alrighty then. Driving my truck like a normally do, my gas mileage improved! Greatly! These arent exact figures, but dang close.

$40.00 in gas at 3.29/g
12.15 gallons
according to my gas gauge, which is fairly accurate, I used about a quarter tank
call it 3 gallons
Just over 38 miles traveled.
equals 12.6 MPG!!

Im going to throw a gas can in the bed with a gallon or 2 in it and run my tank empty to check the actual mileage

Or you could fill the tank. Check mileage. Drive it to almost empty.
Fill it, read the pump, check mileage and calculate.

I never have that much money at once. Haha. Ill see what I can do. I guess I could save up, fill it, drive it a day, then re-fill it and then calculate.

Here is an example of my daily driver gas mileage. I use a 97 Mazda B3000, 3.0, 5spd, geared too high, and under powered. If I have to drive on the highway I have gotten 24mpg by driving it easy with it empty. Fill it with tools and put a fiberglass cap on it and I get 15mpg on the same highway. I live in the mountains, not many flat roads anywhere. I average close to 20mpg with it. I did a job one town away and drove there 5-6 days a week for over a month with that truck. The roads to get there are not compatible with my DD. My mileage was cut in half doing that job. No matter how I drove or which roads I took I couldn't do anything about it. My little truck just was geared and powered wrong. I purposely drove one route to get there with less hills but further distance and the most direct route home just to try and squeak a little more out of it. I could have gotten better mileage with a full size V8 that didn't struggle. So in my instance roads and how I use it dictate my mileage.
