Title: Engine mounts/Position
Post by: Chevy454hp on December 26, 2014, 11:39:22 AM
What mounts and what placement(2.5'' forward/1'' rearward) of the engine did you find that works best? Trying to decide which engine mounts to buy. I have the original "clam shell" mounts now and have looked at mounts from Dirty Dingo, MR, Hooker, Ebay?, and Jegs. I have seen just flat plate adapters, solid mounts and adjustable ones. I'm not concerned about the trans cross member, I have a lot of room to move it or can build a new one.

Truck is a 77 c10 2wd, I also plan on using the factory ls truck oil pan and accessories drive system if possible.

If this is a repeat thread I'm sorry, I searched trough all the ls threads.

hes not looking to move the motor, he just wants to know how the motor should sit once it is installed.

I used the Plates.  The S&P ones put it where the SB used to mount.  You will have to move the trans crossmember due to the 4L80E.  See my whole built thread on my truck for info.

IMO the dirty dingo sliders will put everything where you will need it, I just swapped in lq4 with 700r4...i was actually able to mount to clam shells and slide motor back into trans dowels....plenty of room to tighten up everything...

How do you think the sliders will hold up to horsepower? Truck is going to be somewhere near 600.
