77chevy k10 brake rotors
« on: September 27, 2018, 10:43:18 PM »
Working on changing rotors and calipers on my truck. I hear I have to push the studs out for the hub to separate from the rotor. That correct?
Also what grease goes in the front hubs? And do all the gears stay on the axel when I remove the rotor and hub?
By the way it’s a full time 4wd transfer case.

Don't know about rivets, I'm sure someone will know...this site is a major brain trust.

There is a snap ring that holds the drive gear in place, it also has a spring behind. This is the only gear that connects the axle to the rotor assembly. It comes off first, then the bearings.

You will need a special socket that unlocks the bearing. Found one at Napa, it will have 4 teeth that are offset in their pattern.

Regular old axle grease will do fine, unless you want to spend more.

Thanks for the link. I already have everything apart down to taking out the king pins. Not sure if I’m going to or not yet. They still look pretty good honestly.

king pins? you shouldnt have king pins on a k10, should only have ball joints. that is unless someone swapped out the front axle
