comp cams for 355

has anyone used a comp cams xr264hr-10 ...in a 355 with vortec heads ,rpm air gap high rise intake ,dished pistons ............comp cams tech said this motor should be real torquey and make about  400tq from about 1500-5000

I am curious as well because I am building the same exact motor only I'm using Comp xr282 hr.

i am running that cam with stock vortecs edelbrock rpm intake,and edelbrock 600 carb,long tube headers with flows the engine is very torkey and it turns quick no lag at all.3500 stall with 3.08 gears at 30mph i can drop it to first bust the tires loose and smokem through second no prob.very nice combination.

Here are the dyno results from my engine with vortech heads, I think my cam has similar specs as your yours does.

specs: 350 .030 over
vortec heads, a/c delco platinum
fat top pistons, 9.7 ish to 1 compression ratio
crower torque beast cam (mild cam)
intake edelbrock performer, 1 inch open spacer
carb holley 670 avenger, jets: Changed to F-68 R-72   From the box: P-65 S-68
proform dist, msd streetfire wires.
vacuum adv connected
Balanced rotating assembly
timing adv: 31 degrees
rpm 3000-5500         
91 octane pump gas   

 Peak torque: 431.6 @ 4300
peak HP: 393.3 @ 5400

 is the comp cams  mutha thumper cam for flat tappet 355 a good torqey cam .......looking for something in with less than 550 lift

Ive ran the comp xtreme 4x4 cam 270/278 duration 1800-6000rpm very torqy and strong midrange liked to be shifted at 5500 with 3.73 gears and 35"tires.Idle noticable not to rad though.Good cam though but i stepped up just cuz i love a choppy idle extreme energy 284/296 and changed gears to 4.56 and intake from rpm airgap to victor junior.Much better and the torque is still there but im sure the converter helps 3600tci.
