1986 fuel line replacement

sup guys,i was wondering if its safe to replace the original fuel line from pump to carb. to something else if there is, like plastic fuel hose or something braided?

I try to bend one with the tool,but forget it! lol... its hard...

i was told to replace the steel line with steel line, rubber line with rubber line.   i was going to replace it all with fuel injection rubber hose and was advised against it.

I was reading somewhere that I can only use fuel rubber hose no more then 12" :( ... so maybe im gonna have to order the stock fuel line...

I had the same problem with my 85.  I ended up replacing it with steel braided line that hooked right up to the carb- it's a little long, but it works.  I ordered it through JEGS... I don't know how someone would take the time to remake each bend with the pulleys and what not on.

If you want part # I used I can look it up.

Yea let me have that part # please.. I already order the stock fuel line but my on my brothers truck his gonna needed to...

Bending that line is very easy. Just practice on a scrap piece and then have at it.

I tried to bend 3/8 steel fuel line once for this, and also found it to be difficult or impossible.  People do it all the time, though.  Is there an extra big tubing bender that is needed?  Anyone care to post one they have used?  The prices for pre-bent and braided don't look especially appealing to me.  Don't know if the o.p. is on a budget or as cheap as I am, though.  I'd get one from a junkyard before spending that kind of dough unless this is an extra nice machine.
