Follow along as I install 95-99 60/40 seats in my 84 pickup

I went junkyarding a few weekends ago and came up with an ok 60/40 seat out of a 97 chevy extended cab with a grey cloth interior. I got them just sitting in place last night and here are a few pics. FYI I am building a set of triplets, 87 burb, red w/grey interior, 87 blazer, red w/grey and an 84 pickup, red w.grey. I replaced the burb front buckets about 5 years with a pair of 98 burb buckets so I decided I wanted to make all three vehicles match inside and out. I also picked up a pair of buckets for the blazer. Anyways beck to the install, When I did my suburban, I was able to use the 87 brackets on the 98 seats by drilling and or tapping a few new holes in the seat frame and they mounted up pretty easy. With the pickup, on the passenger side I used a pair of passenger side 87 burb (bucket seats) brackets and attached them to the seat the same way. I got the inner bracket off the floor of the donor burb and I will have to weld or bolt it down to anchor the front and drill a new hole to bolt the rear of the track down. The drivers side seat is going to be a little more involved because the bracket is sitting on the trans tunnel. It looks like I will have to bend both ends to change the angle of the bolt holes and add some spacers between the tracks and the floor, shouldn't be too hard. Then I gotta figure out what to do with the seat belts, next weekend's project.

     That should be a nice fit and feel when you get them installed all the way.  And at a fraction of the cost of a new seat.

They do sit a little higher than the old seat but with me being short its a good thing. As far as a how to post, it was pretty simple to install them. I used suburban bucket seat tracks and used existing holes already on the seats, bending the rear of them up to match the pickup floor angle. I did have to drill one hole for the fronts to pick up one bolt on the front brackets on each track and used one existing hole on the seat for the other front bracket. I had to tap one hole thats not threaded from the factory. On the back of the tracks I had to add a tab to lengthen the track bracket to pick up the factory seat hole in the frame. On the passenger side I had to use the suburban inner floor bracket and mount it to the pickup floor to bolt the inner passenger side track to, like the burb is. On the driver side I bolted the outer track to the floor, bending the rear of the track up to match the contour of the pickup floor. In the inner track, where it bolts into the tunnel, I simply bent the front of the track up, so it was flat to match the floor and ended up using a 1/2 inch spacer to level the seat. On the rear I had to bend the rear of the track up a little more than the outer track as the floor is a little steeper in the center and used about 7/8 inch spacer to level it. I didnt take any pics because I was short on time, had a basketball game to get to that I forgot about, so I will take some pics when I pull them out to put carpet in.

I know this topic is almost a year old but I would really like the updated pics you mentioned you were going to get. Really looking hard at diong this as I can't stand the factory bench, especially how soft it gets - you're almost sitting on the floor.

I cant believe those posts are 2 years old! To tell the truth I havent touched anything on the seat project since I stuck them in, just been driving it. I need to change out the hydrobooster as it leaks slightly on the floor board, before I tear the seats back out and put carpet in. I got side tracked on this project by picking up an 86 crew cab that I am in the middle of a cummins/allison swap on. I think the sickness is called ADD or something... The seats are sweet though, way more comfortable than the stock bench.
