turn signals
« on: May 28, 2013, 12:58:01 PM »
I have an 83 GMC C10. hazards work, but the turn signals do not. i cleaned all the grounds on the core support, ran a jumper ground directly from battery to core support. I switched the 2 flashers, hazards still work. the signals wont even light up, front back or on the dash. every situation i found through the search comes back with people signals coming on just not flashing, im stumped.

Step one, take 4 way flasher out.  Step 2 step on the brake, both brake lights should light.  Step 3 turn on the 4 way flasher, step on the brake, both brake lights still should work.  Step 4, with the flasher on, foot on the brake, signal left.  The left brake light should go out, repeat for the right, it should also go out.  If it all works like I've described, buy a HD flasher new, both of yours may be to weak to work as a turn signal flasher, been there done that...

In other words... if people learn by making mistakes, by now I should know just about everything!!!

I got to thinking again on what I said.  You could just try it with both flashers in and it should show the same thing.  Truck ignition on, turn signals should cancel the brake light on each side.  If it does the turn signal switch is working and the flasher is too weak...
