Best drop height for truck that is used as a truck

Hey everyone, I have finally got around to getting my grandpa's 1985 long bed running again. I am at the point where I can start working on it again. I am wanting to lower it but I am not sure about the height. I will still use it as truck, hauling things on the back (helping people move), but nothing too heavy. Could I drop it by 4/6 or do I need to play it safe and just drop it 2/4. I plan on keeping the OEM wheels. Thanks.

My $.02... Well I am not a fan of dropping anything, if you still want to use it as a truck I would think an axle flip in back and whatever lowering spindles in front is needed to even the truck out.  That way the same load rating should be maintained but it will hit the bump stops then.

It's all in what you like but if you want to go down just a little, do drop spindles and rear shackles. An axle flip will prevent you from using the bed to carry anything.

Rear shackles, hmmm I didn't think of that.  What can you get out of them before it hits the underside of bed?

They won't hit the bed unless it's a stepside, then you have to clearance the rails.
