trouble identifying my differentials' internals.
« on: July 11, 2005, 10:29:00 PM »
Okay, I recently pulled the cover off of my 78 k10's 12 bolt 3.07 rear end, I saw the carrier and what appeared to be two or three rods, one with a drum type thing on it that spun when I turned the driveshaft along with the carrier, what are these components?  I have heard that these are the limited slip or posi components.  I know that both wheels go in the mud, no matter what.  I also know that in forwards, it always throws gravel from and leaves rubber from both wheels and in reverse it almost always does it too.  I had to change the fluid because someone cut my vent tube and the differential filled with mud and water.  The thing started moving both wheels once I put limited slip lube in it instead of the watered down slop it was using.
