There are so many different combinations nowadays that will make great power with even a bone stock 350 long-block. As a documented example... Chevy High Performance took a stock Mr. Goodwrench 350 (i.e., the cheapest GM 350) with cast stock-style dished pistons. They ran through many combinations, but with pocket ported Vortec heads (otherwise stock 1.94 intake/1.5 exhaust), 0.041-inch head gaskets Fel-Pro 1003 head gaskets, Comp cams XE 268 cam, Edelbrock Performer RPM Vortec intake and Holley 750 cfm carb and 1 5/8 full length headers. The combination made 401 ft/lbs torque at 3,600 rpm with a peak of 384 hp at 5,700 rpm. With a 0.015-inch head gasket, larger headers and better mufflers and additional tuning, the same generic Mr. Goodwrench 350 engine made 429 ft/lbs of torque at 3,800 rpm and 409 hp at 5,900 rpm... They indicated in the write-up that the XE262 cam would make more torque with the same HP. So depending on your build, you probably should contact your desired cam company to try to get close to the results you desire.
I mean mine is pretty mild but its not a daily driver. Its a 355 cast pistons pocket ported small valve heads, thin head gaskets, holley street dominator intake with a 2inch spacer, and a holley 750I milled the choke tower off and the cam is a lunati voodoo I think the lift is 507/517 with roller rockers and a double roller timing chain. Its pretty tough to I spray a 100 shot on it and shift about 6300rpm. So I think ur goals are pretty reasonable just be sure to get a nice converter also bc that will feel like 30 hp alone
hey there... i was wondering how much torque and HP my engine is putting out... its a fresh engine but with rebuilt 30 over.. stock heads cam 204 intake 214 exhaust at .05 duration... performer intake.. 650 edelbrock carb, headers and electric fan... any ideas on HP and torque outputs... i was thinking about installing vortec heads.. but its only a daily driver so i dont think its really worth... what do you guys think? thanks for the input.. by the way any ideas for more torque?

Without knowing more of the cam numbers, it's only a guess, but you're probably getting about 290 hp at 4000 and 390 fp at 3500, which are pretty nice numbers without getting crazy. Which cam is it?
