duels and a nice tone
« on: February 05, 2004, 08:58:00 PM »
ok right not i have stock manifolds and 2inch pipe with burnt out glass packs i want somthin loud but with a melow tone instead of the loud crackle you get with 2 inch pipe i was trying to figure out how to make it sound like the newer chevys like 88 and up becasue they sound good with even glasspacks but is it because they start with 3 inch then drop in pipe size ? or just the fuelinjection and all that?

Deeper tones come from larger pipes. If you are staying with duals, I'd go no larger than 2.25" pipe for a stock-mild engine, or just a single 3" pipe.  I had a single 3" to a dual 2.5" out Flowmaster 50 series on my Dakota R/T and with a gutted 3" cat it was LOUD and deep too.  I'm not a big fan of the Fartmaster sound anymore though. I suggest trying the Dynomax Ultraflow or Hooker Aerochamber mufflers.
