Good evening, I've got an '82 Silverado that I'd REALLY like to swap in an '02 Silverado bench seat with the folding console/jump seat.
Has anyone ever done this swap before? I know most likely that I'll have to fabricate some brackets or modify the existing bracketry.....BUT I heard from someone that these '02 bench seats *might* be too wide for my truck?
I'm VERY curious to know....any help would be greatly appreciated.

No idea on the width or info on the swap.

Umm, ok ??? Might you know what the actual width of the factory bench for a '73-'87 is??

I think it is 60.5 at the widest.
BTW the 88-98 trucks were narrower then the 73-87...

Cool deal, thanks for the info. I'd ideally like to swap the '99+ seats in..... I like the jump seat/console portion of the seat AND the fact that the seat belts are part of the seats themselves.

I measured up a 2002 seat and if your 4'8" and no beer gut it would be ok....lol...from what I could tell there is not alot of the seat bracket that comes off the newer seat to get is sitting low enough.I love the idea of the jump seat though and if I could find a cheap set I would certainly give it a shot but since they sell for 300-450 thats a little much to pay for something that might not be comfortable (sitting too high)

I measured my dad's '02 seat and it came in at 59" or so wide....... as for height of the base, that's a non issue for me....as I'll completely fabricate the base frame if I have to. I actually am kinda expecting to do that anyways.
Around here in the houston,TX area those seats run about $200-$250 .....I did see a couple at a swap meet a few weeks ago for $125 ....BUT they were the wrong color for the existing interior in my truck.

If you do happen to do it please post some pictures when you get it done...thx

Most definately.... it'll be a little bit before I get it done though. I'm focusing more on getting my headers and exhaust ran....and then lowering the truck.

Be sure to take measurments that will tell you how much leg room you will have. I'm 6' and with the stock seat I barely have enough leg room to suit me. That is with the seat tight against the back wall of the cab. The newer cabs are deeper front to back than the older trucks. I looked at the seat in an 01 at work and it looks deeper than the 73-87 seat.

Very good point about measuring the seat depth...... I'll be sure to do that. I'm 5' 10" ..... and this aftermarket flea market special bench seat that's currently in the truck has me nearly eating the steering wheel.
Thanks for the advice!
