Restoring a 1986 C10 for my sixteen year old son, i would really like to add a vacuum brake booster to the brakes so i will feel a little better when he leaves the driveway. Just wondering if anybody has done this and what is entailed. Thanks for the help

Here's a link to one possibility...

But, you'll have to do a little research to verify brake line fitting size and possibly procure a pushrod end that attaches the booster to the pedal arm. I suggested this part number, because it uses a dual diaphragm booster for use with heavy-duty brakes, which translates to easier braking. The Booster assembly mounts to the firewall via 6 through-studs.
Check with the store on this site and/or PM Captkaos (the store/site owner) for availability of a tailored kit.
Edit:
You may also wish to check out the salvage yards.

Take the booster, vac hose, and the rod off the pedal out of a similar vintage truck. Your master cylinder should bolt up to it. If not get a new one or if the one thats with the booster is good use it.
Pull vac off the intake right behind the carb.

I was reading another post on the site and it was talking about using JB5 double dia for 23/4 brakes and JB3 single dia for 2" brakes, do i need to worry about that or just go with the double ?? Double sounds better and they are about the same in price. Thanks for the help

You might want to get the brake pedal also. My parts book shows a diffrent part number for the JB1 brakes. And I know I had to change mine when I converted to a hydro boost from a vacuum assist.

I would go with the double diaphram, what brakes are on it now? 1" or 1.25", are the currently manual?
