Title: Swapping a 87 engine into my 73
Post by: lanejesse85 on May 31, 2020, 12:58:12 PM
Hello everyone,

Not too long ago the 350 in my 73 had some catastrophic engine damage, I have found a 350 out of an 87 (TBI) and I think I'm going to pull the trigger on it. I'm looking to keep it carbureted, and my question is, what do I need to change to make this happen? Also the accessory drive is different, should i keep it the way it is or should i but my v-belt stuff back on? If I were to go serpentine what would I need to do to make that happen. I also want to drive my truck as soon as possible not looking to make this a huge project but if the upgrades are easy and quick I'm good for it. Thanks for any feedback. Hope all is well with you all.

You will definitely want the flywheel/flexplate from the 87 engine. Try to get all the accessory drive components and brackets also. I'm sure that there are various sensors and fittings to swap so get as complete assembly as possible. Others will be able to address the specifics. Good luck
