Hi I'm new to the site & hope somebody out there can help me. I have a 1986 Chevy Scottsdale 3/4 ton RWD pickup that I paid $400. for, shortly there after the 700R4 tranny went out. I figured why not put in a manual so I got a Muncie sm465 out of a '77 C20 in the wrecking yard including the clutch linkage. The local Aamco advised me to get flywheel & clutch for the year of the tranny but flywheel didn't match up & Auto Zone advised me to go with year of my motor (which is a 305) this matched up but leaves me with a problem. I noticed that the '86 came with a hydraulic clutch and I wanted to know if I can get away with using the linkage from the '77 since I already have it & am running low on funds for this build. I would really appreciate any answer's or suggestions on this since I've never attempted this changeover before.

Yes you can use the mechanical linkage.
If you think you are short of funds now try buying the hydraulic linkage. Last I saw they are selling for $250+ and that usually includes a used/questionable master cylinder, and usually doesn't include the slave cylinder and bell housing.
I have two sets of hydraulic pedals and I doubt I'll ever sell them. At least not for now.......they aren't eating or drinking so having them cost nothing.

Ty so much didn't want to install & then find out it wouldn't work. Yeah I had checked on the hydraulic & auto zone carries a kit that includes pedal, master & slave cylinders etc. but it runs $250 & is not vehicle specific (so may require mods) & I read that I would have to get a different bell housing also. Ty again & i'll definitely post how it goes hopefully be back on the road soon & using that tuff Chevy for work. This site looks to be a great one & I have ideas for things to do later to my truck & will probably post on here for good advice :)
