Good towing/hauling trans, or a high-rpm burner that sees freeway duty....I could see it being a definite + for things like the Hot Rod Power Tour, or the like...

Hello boys and girls, today we're gonna talk about that wonderful occasion in car owners lives:

NEW TIRE DAY!!!

A couple weeks on the fourth installment of the Bad Boys franchise juiced my bank account enough to pull the trigger on a set of four B.F. Goodrich KO2's in 285/75r16 load E.

Because I haven't updated, I have the replacement TCI TCU installed, I haven't flashed it yet, good thing as I went a little bigger on tire than I was originally thinking. The Goodyears that had been on the suburban, now on my 3/4-ton Ford are 265/75r16 load E. The guys at the closest Tire Discounters had the 285/75 aspect ratio in stock and sold them to me for the price of the 265/75's. I am planning on keeping the receipt to get the same deal when I replace the Wranglers later this year. I knew the Ford would fit the 285's, but it's raining, I didn't feel like changing two sets of wheels and tires and wanted the new, shiny ones on the suburban anyway. It looks like my front fenders may have an appointment with a cutoff disc, but the new tires fit well enough static I'm gonna drive first, THEN cut.

I started my morning picking up my tires and 3 of 4 of a set for my dad:

Like so many things it's a: "because I can" not because I believe it's infinitely better but I always fill my tires with nitrogen:

Philosophically I understand why nitrogen *ought* to be better to fill tires with... but if I didn't tend to keep a few tanks of it on hand, I definitely wouldn't pay the premium the tire shop charges. A full tank of nitrogen filled is what they wanted to charge me PER TIRE last I inquired. Not gonna do it.

On the truck, I'm STOKED:

CHONKY!!!

The only place I foresee any issue is right here:

Easily enough remedied with about 13 seconds and a zizz-wheel. Neither fender is factory anymore, so I'm not even gonna think before I cut. Unfortunately the forecast is for rain all week and I'm DEFINITELY the sort of dumbass that'll spend all of this time and money and then get a little heavy with my right-foot and find something stronger than the truck... so I *may* pussyfoot around this week, but aside from putting the dash back together, if the new trans controller does what it's supposed to it's time to actually drive this beast.

Look out, Ahab!!!

Be Safe

I had to nip mine in the same place Jeremy...all good now though.  Matter of fact, I just put big Toyo's on my DD (98 C2500), and had to do the same.

I ain't skeered. I've cut MUCH more from far more valuable sheetmetal. I just flashed the replacement trans controller. I'm sure I won't *really* know until I drive it, but the "something isn't right" indicators aren't blazing anymore. The light on the unit comes on with the ignition and turns off the same. But it's raining cats and dogs here, so no test drive today. It's my day to pick my little guy up from school(camp) and I'm gonna head that way shortly. He's got some sanding to do on his pinewood derby car:

He's calling it "The Goldfish". I'm not looking forward to helping with THAT paint job.

I love those days!!! NEW SNEAKERS!

They look great!

Do I count 7 tires in your bed?

Looks good I wouldn't cut them at all, you're never going to dip that far unless you are seriously offroading.

What? No BUD Lite?

Yeah, I also picked up 3/4 of a tire order my dad had put in... skipped paying taxes as a result. He's a reseller...

I've been a Miller man since my wayward days... both for welders and alcoholic products.

And NEVER light beer!!!

I avoided bud light before it was a cool political move.

I have an ex-girlfriend whose last name is Miller...when it was that time, she'd tell me that it's "Miller time".   ;)

Shifty-at least there was no doubt!  ;D

For what ever reason, I haven't ever drank light beer of any type.

When I did drink beer, MGD was my go to after Olympia.

On to Martini, or as the wife and I call them, Martoonis. Named after Toonces the driving cat... 8)

I can drink exactly ONE Guinness... and periodically at that. That is one HEAVY beverage.

I have embraced that I drink with equal parts purpose and lack of taste. Cheap domestics in easily recyclable packaging is my preferred.

Heineken light and Coors light have been my gotos because of my volumetric efficiency. Them thick beers make you thicker. I've also latched onto spiked seltzers so I can eat pizza and still breathe.

So, has this entire forum gone full blown anti-bud light?

BTW, nice suburban, full of integrity.
