1979 Chevy k10 Scottsdale 4x4 th350 Dual Exhaust system recommendations?

I have a 1979 Chevy k10 Scottsdale 4x4, and was looking to swap out the stock exhaust system for a dual pipes system. I don’t want to spend to much on this system because I just got my tranny rebuilt, but this is high priority right now as well. Any recommendations to which system as well as mufflers and placement underneath? (Please state prices if you can).

They have other choices also. I put a Walker exhaust on my Dodge. It would've fit nice except I have a ball for a goose neck in it. One pipe hit the bracing for the goose neck. It would have fit if the truck was stock. I think it was around $200
I like the way Magnaflow sounds, I don't know if they have a kit though. My daughter's 87 chevy has a Magnaflow muffler with an internal X pipe. We put Manzo shorty headers on it and had a shop build the system.

I have done exhaust kits...exhaust kits that I have taken to an exhaust shop to install...and I have done custom exhaust. I would highly recommend going to a reputable exhaust shop and getting an exhaust bent up. You don't have to go fancy and you can get a really good exhaust for not too much money.
The problem I find with the exhaust kits is that they never quite fit right. My backup option would be to buy a kit and then have an exhaust shop install it. There is always one pipe that isn't quite bent correctly. They can just re-bend it to fit better.

I agree with ehjorten. I paid $389 to a local shop here in N.C to fab me a dual exhaust. (He provided everything)If I were to buy a kit, it would probably be a few hundred, plus the time and hassle to put it on. Like he said, some of these kits don’t fit and you are kinda stuck. Shops buy pipe in bulk and can bend it to fit easily. I ended up with two thrush brand mufflers which were inexpensive, but sound ok. Best sound on these trucks in my opinion, is true duals, exiting out of each side behind the rear tires. And btw if you are going to put an all new exhaust, might as well gets headers too. Everyone I know always gets a new exhaust, and realized they want headers after everything is already tacked and clamped up, and it is a whole lot more work. Go on eBay and yo7 can find good deals on headers. Good luck!

theres also different gauges of exhaust pipe you can get and shops can use thinner pipe for cheaper prices. so dont just go for the cheaper price

I had a local shop install 2" dual exhaust, and it was about $250 several years ago (15?), using cheap knock-off turbo mufflers.
You can also buy exhaust kits from at least three manufacturers and try to install them yourself. The kits use 2 1/4" pipe, but they do not include an H-pipe. Summit also has a universal 2 1/2" kit for a decent price, but I don't know how well it fits.
One challenge for duals is that the crossmember only has a nice open area on the driver's side for a single exhaust, and the passenger side is tight. My 2" pipes fit fairly well, but I have to keep brackets tight to avoid banging the pipe on the transfer case.
I have never tried to add an H-pipe, but it would also be a little challenging to figure out how to add it. If you go over the driveshaft there isn't much space, but under the driveshaft would cut into your clearance.
