Funny coincidence you should post this.  I've been kicking around the notion of buying a 10" go to Dob before Mars reaches opposition in late July.  It won't be this close to us again until 2035.

I used to take all the babes in my K5 with the top off out back behind my old garage and drive up the steep hill. You could just sit there listen to tunes, drink beer and stare at the sky without looking up.

Bd I'm going to have to work a lot of OT for one of those big boys. Maybe I can find someone near by at some sort of star party.

Vile it's actually really recommend that people start looking at the stars with the naked eye first and find stars and constellations. And the beer sounds good just can't do the babes lol

There is a yearly event around here at one of the State Parks where amateur astronomers set up some pretty elaborate telescopes.  They open it up for anyone to come look through their equipment.   We've taken the kids and they really liked it.

I must say that viewing Jupiter and Saturn through their telescopes is pretty sweet. Much nicer than the 1980's Tasco we have.

Was out at dusk thirty the other evening doing just that...… watched the only 2 visible at that time turn into millions. Can't wait for  the Gemonids, Leonids and Perseids

Religiously. Been staying in the city and the light pollution is killing me.

Awesome.....just awesome.  8)
