Bench seat swap
« on: March 25, 2016, 09:17:15 PM »
Finally got some decent seats to replace my broke bench seat.  I found back seat out of newer Tahoe and fabricated mounts to connect to factory bench seat holes .

Yes exact same length as old bench was.  I think it was 56".

Those seats are from Tahoe, Suburban, Yukon and Yukon XL years 2007-2013.
The black leather also indicates they were from a vehicle that was optioned LTZ, SLT or special option LT2 or SLE2 with leather seats. Which means mid-level trim with additional cost for leather or high level trim with leather standard. SLE & SLT are GMC's codes for trim level.

Yes sir. Cloth seats are standard on LS/SL and LT/SLE models. These are the 2nd row seats that he used. The seats at the back doors. I would suggest using the front seats. These seats only fold forward for access to the 3rd row seats. Front seats, even if they are base model manual adjusting seats still have sliding forward/back, fold/recline and most usually also have one manual lumbar adjustment.

The front seats have no console because they are bucket seats on LT/SLE models with the plastic center console that extends from the lower dash. LS/SL models with no full console have a small jump seat that folds down and doubles as an arm rest/cup holder. On models LT/SLE and up models with no console there is a jump seat that folds down also, it is an upgraded model from the LS/SL model fold down because it has 3 couples instead of only 2. It also has a large fold up arm rest that has storage in it and the lower part of the jump seat you sit on is openable & lockable with the ignition key and has storage in it as well.

The seats the poster used here are the middle seats so the only thing the middle seat does is fold down with a small arm rest and 2 cup holders but these seats are a 60/40 split bench and the middle seat is built in to the driver side unit. The passenger side seat is seperate to allow fold down access to the 3rd row seats.

The front seats on Tahoe/ Yukon, Suburban/Yukon XL and all models of trucks are the same. The 2nd row seats from a Tahoe or Suburban are completely different than the back seats on any crew or extended cab model trucks. The 3rd row seats on Tahoe and Suburban are completely different than any other seats for any of the other models.

Do you still like these seats?  Anything you wish was different?  I'm about to pick up a set for my k10.

What is the deal with the plywood?  Did you make that up just to get the positioning of the seat correct and then make brackets to mount the seat?  the plywood goes away after the mounting brackets are made, is that correct?  Just trying to understand those pictures with the plywood.
