Engine ticking

(1/1)

PineCreek:
My 78 Sierra has a 350 and it starts to tick from time to time after it warms up. It seems to get less noisy if I put the engine in neutral while idling. It sounds like it's coming from the engine and not the tranny. I first noticed it after I towed home a 68 c-10 about 150 miles with a car dolley. The truck is running good otherwise , I've just noticed this tick recently. Any one ??

TRUCK6DRIVER:
Is the noise coming from the top or the bottom. I have had fuel pump push rods make tapping noises. Also the timing chain could be hitting the side of the cover. Take a long screwdriver and put it to your ear and place in different places on the engine to track down the location.

PineCreek:
It seems to be coming from the bottom of the engine. It may be more of a knocking sound I'm hearing. I'm getting worried. It only starts after running for a while.

Blazin:
Hows your oil presure when hot?
