Vent Window
« on: July 02, 2018, 08:47:27 AM »
I need to replace (not repair or put new rubber on) left vent(wing) window. Looking to buy a new one but cannot find. Our sponsor site does not list one at his web site. sales the right vent window but not the drivers side. Can’t find at any sight. Google search sends me to people selling used ones in poor shape from $90-$150. Can anyone point me to a place for a complete new left wing window for a 1985?

Thanks for reply Henry. That truck parts site has them listed but when I order one online it says left side is not available. Not on back order, but unavailable. Right one is is in stock but I do not need that one. I am assuming drivers side wears out faster than passenger. Any other suggestions?

The linked assembly is a 1967-72.  No one repops that side.  From my knowledge.  What you have found is old stock most likely
You only option is fixing what you have.

Thanks for reply Zieg85. Have done extensive search and discovered what Captkoas replied. All new vent windows for 1973-87 are for passenger side only. As Captkoas replied, your suggested link was for 1968-72 Chev pickups. Only used driver side vent windows found using Google & they are over priced.  Now I have some decisions to make.

Do you need the whole window assembly or just the glass?

If you want a full replacement vent window assembly, there are at least three vendors that sell the complete assembly for about $200.  Just do a google search for 73-87 gm truck parts and you should be able to find all of them.  Based on what I was able to find online, the vent window assembly is the same for 73-87, even though the mechanism for the main roll-down windows did change over the years as they changed the doors.

I just bought a driver's side window assembly from a local pick and pull, and IIRC it was about $25.  It was used and had rust in all the typical places, but it was complete and unbroken.  Once you get the door panel off, the vent window assembly is only held in by 3 screws and 1-2 bolts.  Its easy to get out once you understand how its installed.

Thanks to all. Did find new complete vent windows set for both sides. Had to do some tweaking on driver side vent window to make it fit properly.
