Views: 2 | Comments: 0 Curious, what problems/symptoms could occur from a clogged up rear diff. vent tube? July 02, 2025, 06:56:09 pm by Happytexan | Views: 10 | Comments: 1
Hello all. This is my first post on the forum. Truck data first: 1974 C10 Cheyenne super, factory 454, factory a/c still working (with an issue), th400, 2wd, factory 3:73 12 bolt out back. the a/c blows ice cold but only blows on high. That was the only issue with the a/c until I remounted the recirc door actuator someone had left dangling so they could install kick panels with speakers now the recirc door operates as it should, but it still only blows on high and it stops blowing after 10~20 minutes, then will start blowing again if I turn the a/c off and back on. Sounds like a circuit breaker to me, but I can’t find one. I have replaced the resistor, blower relay, and blower motor. Not firing the parts cannon, just freshening things up while I’m in there. Side note, key on engine off, the blower blows on low speed like it should. As soon as I slide the mode switch from off to a/c it stops blowing, if it’s acting up. Is there a circuit breaker for the blower motor I’m not seeing? Do I need to pull the hvac control panel and dive into that? I greatly appreciate your time and help. ![]() July 01, 2025, 09:06:54 am by ehjorten
Views: 98 | Comments: 5 So I went to start my '77 K20 the other day. I haven't driven it much lately and it has just been sitting. When I went to start it, the key wouldn't rotate out of the Off position. It would freely rotate to the ACC position and the radio would come on. It feels like the cylinder would move, but the rod linking the cylinder to the ignition switch is bound up or something. It all worked fine the last time I drove it. Any suggestions? I know I probably have to lower the column, but maybe something simple I am not thinking about? June 30, 2025, 05:45:50 pm by whipper.snapper | Views: 77 | Comments: 1
Hey yall, I have a question regarding polishing my paint. My process right now has been to Sand the little bit of orange peel that I have starting with 800 or 1000 and ending on 2000 or 3000ish. Following the sanding I start with 3M perfect-it rubbing compound with a foam pad on a rotary polisher, and then finish it up with the 3M perfect-it machine polish. The problem: there will still be scratches showing after using the rubbing compound, do I need a more aggressive cutting compound? Do I need to go higher in sandpaper grit? Or do I just need more elbow grease and do more rounds of rubbing compound? Also, if y’all wanted to let me know what your favorite cutting/polishing compound is that would be great. This is my first time. Thank you in advance! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk June 23, 2025, 04:43:25 am by plow_truck
Views: 425 | Comments: 9 Does anyone know what correct carrier bearing and whether there is an appropriate rubber boot? I'm in the process of replacing the carrier bearing and it looks to me like there should be some sort of boot to cover the open spline. The u-joints are spicer 1350 series (1.188 OD x 3.63 end to end) and the carrier bearing is 1.574 at the bearing with a 1.500 dia spline. Its a 1979 K30 with SM465 transmission and a 454 that was swapped in, also its got 4.56 gears. I'm going through the dana / spicer catalog and theres a handful of these (carrier bearing) that come up under style 15 with 1.574 ID, 6.62 bolts to mount and 2.25 dim from bottom to bearing center... but they have different front slinger / rear slinger. If those are the pieces on the end, then I want to replace them if I can. Pages: [1]
