drum to disc with posi
« on: April 17, 2015, 01:21:18 AM »
anyone know what rear ends that will fit 86 chevy c10 stepside? looking for one with posi and disc. i was thinking maybe like 20XX something 1500 truck rear end, may would work but not sure of it and not sure if they have posi or limited slip. i have a stepside so not a lot of room to play with. or would it be a better route to just rebuild my rear end and get a conversion kit for the brakes and just buy a posi rear end for it? if anyone knows of anything else that will fit under these things?

If you can do, or get someone to weld perches on...one way overlooked rear is from the Impala/Caprice. Same width, same wheel bolt pattern, 8.5 ring gear, disc brakes, often a 3.xx gear & posi. Just a thought, Lorne

it would be the 91-96 bodystyle, specifically 94-96.

Yep! Impala SS's, cop cars & some regular pappy rides have 3.42's. The "normal" cars have 2.56's I believe & an option (& maybe wagons?) had something around 3.00...I think it was a 2.96 or something like that, maybe 3.08? Some of them have 30 spline axles & a NICE posi unit. Do a little research on a Impala forum & figure out what is best to be looking for.  Lorne
