Newb to these trucks
« on: May 06, 2019, 05:06:15 PM »
Hi! I just picked up a 79 suburban 4x4 manual trans. I’m glad there is a lot of support here. Ima need it while I learn this new(to me) truck.

A little bout me:
I was previously ASE certified out of high school. I then got some welding certificates in college as well as a machining degree. I also took a class in manual trans, transfer case and diff rebuilding. I’ve worked on and owned Toyota 4x4s, honda crx(gets 48mpg), Honda dirt bikes, my dads old 66 GMC long bed and my wife’s 2001 suburban. I’m in the army reserves as a wheeled vehicle mechanic. We have some (I think) awesome trucks... not a fan of humvees much. I’m down here in Arizona just south of Tucson. Good to be here I’ll see you around the forms.

Welcome to the site.
Thank you for your service.
im digging the suburban
Now that you got a chevy, you gotta check out the Military CUCV's (basicly mid 80's 1 ton chevys and k5 blazers).
Also like your toyota, I got a 02 tacoma 4x4. It's a great little truck.

Oh ya I saw a couple CUCVs at the school house. They are pretty awesome! I wish they made suburban CUCVs.

Thanks guys! Good to be here
