I service and repair antique clocks. The amoniated clock cleaner I use works wonders on brass & copper items. I've soaked bulkhead connectors and fuse blocks in it to remove corrosion & grime, it comes concentrated, dilute 10:1 with water and use fresh water to rinse it off. It also works on lots of other parts.

BTW I didn't think they had flashers in 1897, I thought you just got out and started waving your arms... ;D

OK the crack about 1800's was not called for... ::)

Geezer, what is the amoniated cleaner you use? Sounds like a product I use called "Pre-clean". It is caustic but cleans off stuff that you can't imagine.

The challenge with this stuff is you have neutralize it, or it keeps on eating away... :(
