Title: 292 4x4 frame engine mounting
Post by: 1967KaiserM715 on January 27, 2019, 03:51:41 PM
Can anyone help me out with pictures of 4x4 engine mounting of a 292 in a 73-87 style truck? I thought the frame mount bracket changed, but everything pre '73 shows a completely different cross-member for 4x4, so I'm thinking it may be the same for '73-'87(91) trucks...

292 Inline 6 engines use a completely different mount orientation over any other engine, including the 250. This is because of the Fuel pump is located in the center of the block, vs forward like all other inline motors used by Chevy.

Thanks all.

I may have figured it out...turns out the clamshell is different, looks like the same for p10 vans as well.... I managed to snag a couple clamshells, but they are all 2wd clamshells, and they use a different frame mount from small blocks.

If it's allowed, I can post a link from 67-72chevytrucks, that has some pictures. Very hard to find pictures, was actually browsing YouTube and came across a video that had the different mounts.

I'd still be interested in pictures though, the 292 was losing popularity with the 350, so not a very common engine in the 73-87 trucks.
