Title: Wipers moving very slow---sometimes.
Post by: Stewart G Griffin on September 30, 2016, 08:45:44 PM
What would cause the wipers to move slow, then normal for a while, then slow again etc.

i don't know if it's related but sometimes my dash lights are pretty dim, then sometimes they are bright etc.   (if the two are not related, then what would cause this separate problem?)

i think my battery is good.

Check, clean, tighten all the cab grounds.  Lube the wiper transmission.

Stewart, you had a post awhile back asking for pictures on how to remove the cowl. If you haven't removed yours yet, now is a great time to do it and lube all the wiper linkage like BD said.
After reading your post, i did that to my M1028. I also put in a rebuilt wiper motor, because mine only worked on the slow speed (about $60 at O'Reilley auto parts).
Everything works great now, high & low speed and the windshield washer does too.  $60 and a few hours will spent.

Will do.  It may be time for a new motor.

On a related note, Subaru is recalling about 600,000 cars----due to a faulty wiper motor that could catch fire.  i mean wiper motors have been around for about 100 years and they still can't get it right?   Newer and more complex is not necessarily better!
