Muffler Placement

Not sure if this topic has been brought up before (sorry newb). I just installed Hooker 2453HKR headers and am very soon finishing out the exhaust. I have 2 Flowmaster super 44's I plan on placing in the system. Where is the best placement for the mufflers in the system? I've heard alot of people say furthest from header collectors the better and others disagree. I just bought Hedman Collector Flanges that are 17" in length to come off the headers. My plan was to just throw those on with the mufflers right after. Thoughts?

This is just my opinion, but i would think putting the mufflers as far back as possible would give best flow?
Also look what the factory (GM and other companies) are doing these days----the mufflers are at the rear bumper.
