First ring & pinion swap
« on: September 25, 2014, 09:47:09 AM »
I'm swapping my 3.08's for a set of Yukon 3.73's in my C10 with a factory 10 bolt diff. Everyone's given me vague answers on why I should let someone else with experience do the swap for me, but honestly it can't be that hard right? New bearings, get the pinion depth correct, swapping the ring is easy, what do I really need to know?

pinion depth and backlash is crucial to ring and pinion set.If not set right they get wasted in a hurry.Gearset can be very difficult in getting them warrantiedThat being said you can buy an inexpensive pinion depth guage and with a dial caliper and dial indicator you can do it .Use gear marking compound to check your pattern and adjust depth and backlash till its right.Good luck with the swap
