need drivers door glass
« on: May 18, 2019, 03:08:52 PM »
hello
1987 305 short fleet

i need a new drivers door window
i know this is a basic item but is there any one vendor i should look for or might i be better off going to my local auto parts store?
also are there any particular manufacture or subtle differences to be aware of or is this just a basic "a window is a window" situation. any other items i might need to pick up for the job (clips, adhesive etc.?)

the drivers door glass shattered while the window was down and the door was slammed shut, might there have been something loose internally that caused it?

thanks

Go to an auto glass outfit.  That way it is the right one, tint or non-tinted is the only difference in the 81 on up glass.  If you can do it yourself, check out Craigslist or Marketplace for folks parting out a 1981 on up.

Is there a guideline with tips for window replacement somewhere in the archives here?
Can't find a specific video on YouTube

Some questions that come to mind are
-what type of lubricant is good for the rollers/regulator ( manual not power)
-Any special materials needed to attach the new window to the regulator components?
-does the vent Window need to be removed?

Thanks
