1984 Chevy Silverado Stepside w/350 trans
« on: April 08, 2018, 12:31:17 PM »
I have a banged up driveshaft and will need to either replace it or have the driveshaft repaired and balanced. What other year and model chevy truck have a 57" tube length driveshaft that will fit my short bed? Thanks

Where are you located?

When I lived in San Antonio I had a local place called Driveshaft Specialists make me a new front driveshaft for my K25, and it was a very common job for them.  It cost more than a junkyard pull, but everything was new (cardan joint, etc.) and it was an exact fit.  I believe they also repair, balance and shorten driveshafts.

just to add to what bruce said, its a good idea to rebuild the front driveshaft anyway. by time you get the needle bearings and u joints it will add $50-$70 (about $30 for the cardan joint rebuild and $10-$20 for u joints) to what a junk yard shaft will cost plus the splines on the shaft might be worn anyway
