That's a good question, especially since a 283 is not a stock truck engine. but, I guess a small block chevy is a small block chevy--it should'nt matter.
NOw, for the flexplate being the same b/w the two tranny types, i would check on
www.partsamerica.com or similar site and see if the flex plate numbers are the same on a th350 vs. 700r4. I don't know what year the tranny changed in the trucks, may have to enter a few different truck years. Enter the year of a truck w/ that tranny (700r4) and enter a year around 78 (for the th350)---see if it comes back w/ the same number flexplate.
You have to ensure your starter matches the flexplate if it is different (ie: 168 tooth)etc....
