Transmission conversion
« on: October 08, 2021, 04:59:22 PM »
So I have a 1988 V30 crew cab dually (think K30 but fuel injected). Which apparently is kind of a $#*() child as it still has the 1987 body but is the first year of fuel injection hence why I asking questions here about a 1988. Presently the truck has a SM465 transmission with a 205 transfer case. I would like to convert the truck to an automatic and wondering what this truck would have had when it came from the factory with an automatic transmission (also what the corresponding transfer case would be)?

Thanks!

87 was the first year for TBI and the R/V designation which continued to 1991. What is original still? What engine is it? Post the VIN and look for the SPID label in the glove box which will tell what trans it came with and more.
