1982 C-30 Z bracket pivot stud HELP
« on: April 29, 2022, 07:30:30 PM »
Hello all. I have a 1982 Chevy C-30 4 speed manual and the pivot stud on the side of the block broke off flush with the block. Is there an easy way to remove the old stud and replace it without removing the engine?

Pivot stud for clutch linkage? If so, unusual to me.

Can you remove the inner fender for better access? or both for that matter?

If you are not sure you can do it, have a machine shop do it. Even if you need to tow it in!

Saturate the broken stud with some PB Blaster or equivalent for several consecutive days.  Center punch the broken remnant as dead center as possible.  Use a 90° lefthand drill motor with ~1/4" LH bit, or substitute one of the specialized broken bolt/stud removers.  If you're lucky, the stud will back right out.
