Title: Radio harness male ends
Post by: thebeast on April 01, 2018, 08:49:17 AM
I have searched and searched and can’t come up with a company that sells the MALE ends of the radio wiring. You know...the 3 that are part of the dash harness. Can someone tell me where to find these? I’d like to order some. Thanks!

That should be a standard GM radio connector, so sources like Classic Industries, Year One,  , and others probably have the connector.  However, the year and trim level may make a difference, since early trucks usually only had an AM mono radio.

Also are you talking about the power connector or something for speakers?  The early power connector is usually three wires, with ground, 12 volts switched, and instrument panel dimmer.  I assume they later added a wire for 12 volt unswitched (for a clock the radio).

The 78-87 are available.  1977 and older are much harder to find.  I had a real hard time finding the ones needed for a 77 radio

I know they’re available. I just can’t find where. I just tried searching for radio connector and I still get eleventy billion aftermarket harnesses that splice on to the back of a CD player or whatever. Still can’t find what I’m looking for. And yes, there are 3 plugs with a total of 11-12 wires. One plug is white, one’s black, and one’s blue (if I remember correctly)

Check this site. May have what you need. I have purchased a few from them when I couldn't find elsewhere.

Borg-Warner (BWD) also listed the male plugs for the late 70's to early 80's radios.  I bought some through O'Reilly's, though I had to look them up in the paper catalog.
