So far my delving into inline parts shops has been a mixed bag.
I have found a couple of stores that have stuff in stock and ship right away.
Then there are the others.
I ordered a flywheel on April 6, but as the ship date arrived, delivery was pushed back 6 days.
When THAT date arrived, shipment was postponed ANOTHER 6 days.
I have called to (hopefully) get a straight answer, nut am awaiting a return call.
I ordered some clutch linkage and related parts from another store, with no anticipated ship date given.
About a week after seeing that the orders were "processed," I called about delivery.
I was informed that one part was being fabricated, and shipment should occur on April 16th.
Having seen no action since then, I called today, but was informed that "the computers are down."
I didn't want to name names.
Good grief! My project is on HOLD for these parts.........
I would attempt to deal locally, but I live out in the sticks.......
Maybe this should go into a general category?

Even the best vendors experience occasional delays. Of course, as you've discovered, there are those who rarely deliver on time. Depending on what you are after, some vendors are better than others.
-
As of this afternoon, the one seller that has pushed back shipping date 2X can give me no update beyond
the information on the website.
The store whose computers were down this morning is closed pretty much all day.
I guess their glitch is catastrophic...............
-
EOQ and brick and mortar. Many online places list prices cheaper but buyer beware. They have no warehouse, no inventory, no employees, just a fly by nighter. It's better to pay a few dollars more and get guaranteed fast delivery on items you need.
-
The twice delayed flywheel has been pushed back an additional month.
This information came after I pressed for an accurate delivery date.
So, I guess anyone else who has one on order will get strung along unless they check into it more deeply.
I cancelled the order.............and am pretty much writing them off.

what im tending to do is getting a part number from auto zone, napa or advance auto, then ill take that number and try to find it either on Ebay or amazon and check for the shipping date also. i will also say most times i buy ac delco or whatever name brand and amazon is so much cheaper than advance auto (who carries ac) and with amazon theres usually some sort of discount you can find

Try summitracing
Summit has always done me right. They have always shipped fast, and now that they have a warehouse in Texas, I get parts within 36 hours even with their "free shipping" with $99 purchase. I do have to pay Texas state sales tax though.
-
I believe Summit has a great reputation.
I HAD believed that about the other 2.........
The flywheel now shows an expected ship date in June on the one outfor's website.
The other was supposed to have my order ready to ship last Tuesday, but as of
yesterday, they were still awaiting delivery of a few components.
They were supposed to check and respond yesterday, but I am still waiting........
So, I sit in my truck and make driving/shifting noises.......
-
I ordered FW along with clutch kit from Summit.
Time to get to work on clutch pedal conversion and TH350 removal.
-
STILL waiting on parts from one outfit.
I received an order from them on Monday, and was told my second order would ship on Tuesday,
for delivery on Thursday.
Thursday arrived......the parts didn't.
Called again......I was told that the order would be delivered on Friday.
Friday arrived...............the parts didn't.
I called AGAIN, but.... no answer. Guess they are closed on Friday afternoons ??
This sucks.......

Why not cancel your order and go with a reputable vendor? Who are you ordering through?

they probably will say "the parts are pulled now, so we'll just have to charge a restocking fee"

Vendor is USA1 Industries.
I ordered a clutch rod boot, a clutch fork boot, and a fork return spring.

i ordered primer, reducer and activator at 3pm in the afternoon, and it arrived 1:45 pm the next day!
i have no idea how but ill take it!
-
I ordered vent window glass from them and they welded the pivot to the frame in the wrong position. I called them because I wasn't getting anywhere. I got some song and dance but eventually they made good and swapped them out, but it was an ordeal and a setback. At the time, they were the only ones offering what I wanted so I dealt with it. I would definitely call them and let em have it!
-
If they cannot give me a tracking # tomorrow, I will cancel the order.
That is, IF they answer the phones and their "computers aren't down...."

Jeg's
Summit
And Rock Auto have been great to deal with.
i wish all retailers would operate like them.
-
I had ordered a flywheel from Jegs, but do not recall if it was listed as being in stock at the time.
After no action for 2 weeks I called to expedite, and was given a date 1 week later for anticipated shipping.
After the week had passed, I again checked on the order and was told that yet another week would be required.
So, I climbed the ladder a bit to obtain the REAL story.
I was told that the actual ship date would not be for another MONTH !
I cancelled the order and purchased from Summit. Had it in 2 days!
Summit and have been great so far, along with Carolina Classic Trucks for sheet metal panels.
