Radio systems are often overlooked when it comes to electrical problems but are most likely the cause. I had a buddy who was having a lot of issues from the system that was installed in his car by friend of hisand when he finnaly brought it to me he had almost had his whole car engulfed in flames from 22ga speaker wire spliced(twisted together and taped) to 16 ga from the trunk to the battery. This was the alltime hot to a 1200watt alpine and a +/- speaker wire twisted together( i guess to join two seperate wires as one) for the ground. very dangerouse. the ground was melted to the carpet.

im pretty sure that my issue is in the radio also i just havnt had the time to go and do it. another i was wondering about is that the fuse for my radio doesnt have any power to it so the last owner made a Y connection from the radio to the battery power in the fuse panel. thoughts?

Have you remover the fuse from the block and tested to see if there is any power to the block. this is where I would start.

Honda, I'm actually installing new radio now for a truck that has nothing and i mean nothing no speakers no radio brackets and no way to mount rear speakers. So in a "effort" to get everything right i've pulled the dash, intrument cluster, which is alot of work but I would suggest doing this along with a good wiring diagram to make sure you get it right the first time and are not chasing more problems in the future. Pull the fuse block, inspect, start from scratch then you know its been done right. You don't want a truck fire"ruining your day".

I could not agree with this statement any more.  I do a lot of wiring in my job on all kinds of machines, a good wiring diagram will save you countless hours.

Did you check in the tech section here, under wiring diagrams ?  They have the standard ones.

Don't be afraid to dive head first into your factory wiring harness, as you read the schematic and start to trace circuits you will see that the wiring harness is actually broken up in a couple of different circuits and eventually it will make sense.

I know and sorry for the long reply, but i am waiting to get a new radio and a few other things first so that i can do it all at once so that i hopefully wont need to tear back into the dash. And so right now im putting a few other things into the truck and im going to probably wait on the radio and dash lights situation and i will just have to cope with them for now.
