Wiper Switch
« on: February 10, 2013, 03:24:46 PM »
alright my new problem that i have had since the truck and im just deciding to do something about is my wiper switch. Alright so i have a 1983 chevy k10 and i need to know what the settings i guess is what you would call it that each movement of the switch does. such as far left, push in, 1 click right, 2 clicks right, and 3 clicks right. if anyone has what they each do would really help me out. And now for the issue that i am having, so when i hit the switch and any direction i comes on like it should but i doesnt shut off when i take it back to what i believe should be the neutral position. and when i go far left which i thought was just a single swipe it doesnt always shut off and sometimes also start up the bug wash. then the speed between 1 right and 2right dont seem to change much. would it be safe to say the issue is in the wiper switch itself or is something elso going on.

So you have the correct wiper switch in the dash? Take a pic. It should be off, slow, fast. Depress for wash. If you have more positions than that it may be a pulse wiper setup. Nevertheless the park switch is in the wiper motor. Clean the connections at the wiper motor and ensure it has a good clean ground.

On my 83 K10, there are 4 positions.

1 - 2 - 3 - 4

1. is one wipe bump
2. is off
3. is intermittent
4. is steady on
push in for fluid
