77 Steering Column Issues

the cylinder in my 77 k10 stuck in the run position. I've stripped down the column and knocked out the casting covering the tang that needs to be depressed to remove the cylinder from the column, but the tab/tang doesn't budge.
Can anyone offer a suggestion on how to proceed.  as a last resort I'll use a slide hammer to pull the guts out.

Are you sure it's the lock cylinder that's  binding? Did you check the rack gear? Try getting it in the off position and make sure you broke off the correct piece.

This is a pic looking down the lock cylinder tube of the steering column. at the bottom of the shaft is the sector, what is the gold part underneath it? Whatever it is moves around with a push of a screw driver. I can't seem to find in on the exploded parts diagrams i've found online. this is a 77 standard column, ( the truck is a 77, and I assume it's the original column.)

Rack looks good.
Going to take a stab at it that that is part of the lock cylinder that has come off but not certain.
Wish I had taken more pics.
You can see my sector gear missing a tooth causing mine to jam.
Had mine apart not too long ago to replace the gear.
It was jamming but not in the on position, only when I went to acc and then back to off and then to on/start.
The lock cylinder is not expensive. I got one GM from amazon.
The box in the pic is the lock cylinder.
