wire ??? 80 C-20 custom deluxe

have 2 questions. have a black wire that clips into the top of ash tray housing. could this be a light? what does it plug in to on the harness? getting ready to install the gage panel  in to the dash and i see a spade on the upper right corner that i don't remember unplugging.any idea?

If I understand your question, I think you are talking about the fiberoptic cable. It plugs into the ashtray housing and goes to the back of the gauge cluster, in the upper right hand corner when you are sitting in the truck. That's how my 82 is anyway.

It transfers light from your instrument panel through the cable to illuminate the ashtray. If you have it apart shine a flashlight in one end and see what comes out the other.
